In 1997 I test drove a new Dakokta V8 manual 4X4 it was raining, I spun out in 10 minutes then went and bought a Saturn Coupe.

No it’s Emerald Green Metallic which is better than brown

GRRRRRRRRRRRR
Damn I wish the Colorado’s manual trans option carried over to the V8 model

You get a star just for the JJ Abrams comment alone.

Well yeah, they are tail happy. 300 torques can be hard to rein in when the rear weighs all of eighty pounds sopping wet :)
But from a Dak to a Saturn? Guess that explains your “Jaaaag” purchase too ;)

That’s a good truck too. And it’s not patina, It’s just ripening nicely. On mine it’s not patina, but horrendous rot, which is what it is. In the last two days I’ve offended Mopar guys, Cutless guys, and who knows who else, so I’ll just say it: Truck people are ruining trucks for regular people. Rams and F-150s are basically really nice large cars that pull trailers so the line-x don’t get scuffed. Rams ride on coils so your tender ass is comfortable. (THIS IS NOT WHAT DODGE TRUCKS ARE FOR) But they squat and shimmy when towing. Trucks Keep getting bigger, more powerful, and increasingly PUSSIFIED. One should be able to overload, beat the shit out of, put away wet, and treat their truck like a truck. You should be able to fix it with bailing wire (ford climate control), the doorhandles should not fall off (chevy) and brand new trucks should not dent around the doorhandles from opening and closing the doors (aluminum fords and 09-up rams) PLEASE GIVE THESE ASSHOLES BACK THEIR TRANS AMS so we can have an honest truck again.

I overload this pickup all the time and the exhaust is held together by HVAC tape and baling wire :)

This thing has done everything I’ve asked it to. It’s only got 68k miles, so it’ll keep doing it for a long while

I’ve been to Estes Park, I want to live there.

YES! a proper truck. Mine rusted in half more than once, rides like a box of rocks, is not meant for a Canadian Prairie winter (heat or defrost, never both), has not a single option, and is now an 85-86-87-93-98-02 ToyoFordPontiMopar. with a little surviving Yota it’s all glued onto. If they still made em, I’d get another. It’s a brutally raw automotive experience.

We go up there multiple times per year; sometimes just to get out of town for a day. It’s a wonderful place to take advantage of.
Going camping in Moraine Park at least three times this year :)

This pic?
That’s double the payload. Drove up I-25 a good 15 miles like that as well. Not a swerve, no issues at all.

I’m a car guy but I was going to college in South Georgia so I tried to be a truck guy for about 10 mins, the Jaaag Purchase (I loved that car in the end) was a desperation purchase, I wanted a sedan with Sunroof and Leather had $20,000 to spend, and It was what fit the bill at Carmax and it was a manual too. So I bought it when I saw it. The Saturn was completely dead and I needed a car by Monday.
Now my F10 535i Manual I bought 2 years ago, I searched for 4 months for that car.

Well I know what I have :)
I have a ‘93 F150 4x4 straight 6 with a manual. Best description I’ve ever heard for it was “it’s a glorified tractor with a truck body” haha...it’s slow, but it’s reliable and has torque where it matters

Good old stone age leafsprings are best for lugging stone. My yota only held about 2/3 of a yard of dirt BEFORE it got a shrunken box, and it left a trail from the gravel pit to my house. BTW, if I didn’t the best truck already, I’d have a Dakota, older the better, If they came out a year earlier, He would have had a stripper red Dakota with a 4 speed. Have always appreciated the DAK.

Noice. I’ll always have a soft spot for OSB Ferds. Pops had a 1992 F-250 4x2, 460 with 4:10 gears. Thing could haul a house - and it did, our 33 foot Terry fifth-wheel.
